Save Lives, Reduce Injuries, Protect Property...

The risk of fire is one of the greatest threats to health and safety, property and essential services.
Industry, government, and indeed everyone, share in the responsibility of protecting Canadians from the consequences of fire. Mayne Island Fire Rescue Service is committed to providing fire protection services to all residents, business, properties and visitors of Mayne Island.
Fortunately Mayne Island experiences only a few brush fires and even fewer residential fires. Unfortunately, these number of emergency responses will continue each and every year. With the ever increasing numbers of residents and tourists and changing climatic conditions that are more volatile during the summer wildfire season, Mayne Island Fire Rescue will continue to experience ever-increasing demands for emergency response.
Although very few structure fires have occured on Mayne in recent memory, we strive to be as fully prepared as possible by being properly equipped and by conducting regular and effective training sessions and drills weekly. Occassionally an unusable or derelict structure is donated to us for live fire training. This is a rare occurrance that assists greatly in firefighting skills maintenance.
Because Mayne Island Fire Rescue historicly has few serious fires, both residential and wildland; it is essential that the Fire Department conducts regular and realistic training drills to maintain and build fire fighting skills to achieve a favourable outcome when responding to emergency calls.
