Built largely by volunteers and volunteer fire fighters, the Mayne Island Fire Hall is approximately 44 years old and has served its purpose and the community for many years.

·         The fire hall has 3 apparatus bays and a small ready room on one side for fire fighting clothing.

·         Above the Apparatus bays, are the offices of the Fire Chief, Improvement District Administrator, meeting room, the amateur radio club, and a very small apartment.

·         Outbuildings include the hose drying tower, and 18,500 gallons of rainwater catchment in 3 tanks.

Command, 1996 Dodge 3500 4X4

Command is a Quick Response Duty Officer vehicle, and is equipped with a small pump and 150 gallon onboard water tank.

·         Command is the first responding apparatus to all fire call outs and public assist requests.

·         Being four wheel drive, it has the ability to travel nearly anywhere on Mayne Island. Narrow back roads, mud, and snow do not concern this fire truck.

·         Command can also be equipped with tire chains on all four tires for positive traction anytime, anywhere. This means an extremely high probability we can arrive quickly in the event of an emergency in the worst weather conditions imaginable.

Engine 1, 1996 Freightliner FL80 Pumper.

Engine One is our primary fire fighting apparatus, It carries all of the equipment we would need when responding to a fire call.

·         Engine 1 is the second responding apparatus to all fire call outs with the first responding firefighters, as well as secondary first responder call outs.

·         Engine 1 is fully equipped with nozzles, Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), spare air cylinders, Fire Axes, Forcible entry tools, ropes, chainsaws, floodlights, salvage tarps, Positive Pressure Ventilation fan, Portable radios, and a whopping 3050 feet of fire hose!

Tender 1, 1999 Freightliner FL80 Pumper/Tender

Tender 1 is a water supply tender, although it has a 420 Imp gallon per minute pump

·         Tender 1 is a backup to Engine 1, and can respond in the event of a second, unrelated fire call out.

·         Equipment carried includes a foam proportioner - a very effective system for the most efficient use of the water onboard, as well as foam nozzles and various fire hose appliances.

·         Tender 1 carries a minimal amount of fire hose, only 1200 feet combined. This is more than sufficient for the tasks it will be required to perform. It does not carry supplies and equipment for an interior attack - an interior attack will be mounted from Engine One.

Rapid Attack, 1996 Ford Super Duty 4X4

·         Rapid Attack carries Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) for hazardous atmospheres such as an interior fire attack crew or for responding vehicle fires.

·         Rapid Attack, being a four wheel drive, it has the ability to travel nearly anywhere on Mayne Island. Narrow back roads, mud, and snow do not concern this fire truck.

·        The Rapid Attack can also be equipped with tire chains on all four tires for positive traction anytime, anywhere. This means an extremely good probability we can arrive quickly in the event of an emergency in the worst weather imaginable.
