Mayne Island Improvement District What is an Improvement District?
“Elected local government individually set up in the past by the BC Government so that unorganized territories could provide themselves with specific municipal-like services and functions”
Dwelling Protection Grade (DPG)  What is the DPG system?
One of the fire insurance classifications we establish and convey to FUS member companies is the Dwelling Protection Grade. The D.P.G. is a numerical system scaled from 1 to 5. One (1) is the highest grading possible and 5 indicates little or no recognized public fire protection. This grading reflects the ability of a community to handle fires in small buildings (e.g. single family dwellings). http://www.fireunderwriters.ca/dpg_e.asp

Pender Island Fire / Rescue In many respects the evolution of Pender Island Fire Rescue (PIFR) is a reflection of the growth of North and South Pender. Over the past three decades our Gulf Island community has become more populated and the demands on our infrastructure more complex.

South Galiano Volunteer Fire Department From its beginning in 1963, with a great deal of support from local citizens, government officials, and through outstanding leadership, the Galiano Island Fire Department has fulfilled its primary responsibility to protect lives and property from fire.
